Brand Name Hammer Drills

Cordless power tools are significantly more convenient than corded tools and this is one reason as to why they have become more popular in recent years. Most professional constructors will have one of each type in their toolkit and will use them according to the job that they need completing. Nevertheless, power tool manufacturers have found themselves battling against one another to develop cordless tools with longer lasting batteries with more durability.

The development of these new battery technologies has thus affected the lifespan of certain power tools and it is estimated that typically a cordless power tool will only last between one to two years if being used frequently. One power tool that has been at the forefront of the cordless revolution is the hammer drill. One reason that hammer drills have featured significantly in the cordless revolution is that they require a lot of power to function correctly and many manufacturers have struggled to develop a cordless hammer drill that is capable of generating the same amount of power as a corded tool.

Cordless drill works best on brick, block and light concrete but require the operator to apply some pressure to make it work on much harder concrete thus hammer drills are considered by many to be more suitable if you are only planning on drilling a few holes infrequently. Many people confuse hammer drills with their more advanced counterparts, rotary hammers.

One reason for this is that both power tools look the same and have similar functions but rotary hammers are designed for more strenuous use on tougher materials. One disadvantage of this is that rotary hammers tend to be more expensive than hammer drills so you need to consider how often and how tough you are going to be with either drill. It is important therefore that you know before you purchase a hammer drill that you are fully aware of the kind of material you will be drilling through and how many holes are you planning on drilling.

The lifespan of a hammer drill will then, as described above, depend upon how often the hammer drill is used and the nature of the tasks you are performing. The lifespan will also be affected by the way in which you treat your hammer drill, for instance if you frequently drop the drill or do not charge the battery in the correct manner then you hammer drill is not likely to last as long.
